Another slow cooker recipe to add to the list! Who doesn’t love a big old heaping bowl of delicious chilli? Well, in my years of trial and error I’ve ended up with this recipe and it’s another one of my favourite go-to dishes. This recipe is fairly low-carb, packed full of protein and fibre with loads of health-friendly vitamins and minerals. So let’s get into it.
(Feel free to substitute whatever ground meats your prefer)
-1lb of Extra Lean Ground Beef
-1lb of Extra Lean Ground Turkey
-2 Cans of Diced Tomatoes (No Salt Added)
-1 Can Tomato Paste
-1 Can Dark Red Kidney Beans (No Salt Added)
-1 Can Black Beans (No Salt Added)
-1 Red Bell Pepper, chopped
-2 Green Jalapeno Peppers
-1 Onion, diced
-2 Bouillion Cubes (I match my bouillion cubes to my meat of preference)
-4 Garlic Cloves, diced
Optional: Add 1 Can of Light Beer to the Slowcooker
-1 Tblspn Cumin
-1 Tblspn Chilli Powder
-2 1/2 Tspn Basil
-1/2 Tblspn Italian Seasoning
-1/2 Tblspn Garlic Powder
-1/2 Tspn Salt
The first thing to do is to break up your ground meat and spread it around the bottom of your crockpot. After you’ve added your meats to the mix, you want to cut up your vegetables and add them to the mix. Afterwards, open the beans and rinse them then throw them in. Open the diced tomatoes and tomato paste then dump them into the mix. Throw in your bouillion cubes, then pour your beer over the top if you so decide to go with that option. Now you add your spices and stir the whole mix together.
Cook this recipe on high heat for an hour and then low heat for another three, stirring occasionally as it cooks.
